Amazon has the first cast member for its upcoming Lord of the Rings series, according to a new report. Deadline reports that Markella Kavenagh has been cast in an unspecified series regular role for the show.

J.A. Bayona will direct the first two episodes of the series, which JD Payne and Patrick McKay are writing. Game of Thrones episode writer Bryan Cogman is serving as a consultant on the series, which is set during the Second Age, about 3,000 before the events of Lord of the Rings.

Kavenagh starred in the series sequel to the Russel Crowe-led 1992 drama Romper Stomper, as well as the Australian Picnic at Hanging Rock miniseries. Lord of the Rings will be her highest-profile project to date.
