AMC isn’t looking to end the Walking Dead franchise any time soon. AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan says that they have plans for a decade to come for the show.

The Walking Dead is a universe…and we have a plan to manage over the next decade, plus,” Sapan said (per THR) “That plan is a careful plan to respect the world of the fans of that world.”

THR’s report nots that Fear the Walking Dead was cited as an example of how the show can continue that long, suggesting that the main show will not necessarily run that long. With the series located in a particular part of the US, and Fear taking place across the country, there is still a lot of georgraphic ground that the series could conceivably cover — not to mention time periods.

The Walking Dead season nine will premiere on October 7th on AMC.
