Ryan Murphy has found the source material for American Crime Story: Katrina and has tapped Sarah Paulson to star in the installment. Deadline reports that the third installment of FX’s Emmy-winning anthology series will now be based off Sheri Fink’s Five Days At Memorial, which Scott Rudin has the rights for.

Five Days At Memorial tells the story of Memorial Medical Center in New Orleans in the wake of Katrina’s devastation. The medical staff, led by Dr. Anna Pou, was left in the hospital without power for days without support by hospital owners, no generator mechanic and no evacuation plan. The decision was made by Pou and the staff to euthanize critically-ill patients that were not expected to make it. An investigation into the matter showed elevated levels of morphine and other drugs in twenty-three patients who died.

Katrina was originally set to be the second installment of the series after People v. O.J. Simpson, but it was pushed back to get a better handle on what part of the Katrina tale to tell. The second installment will be The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

Sarah Paulson is reportedly set to play Dr. Pou in the adaptation.
