It looks like fans will soon be able to experience a new version of Avengers: Endgame. Speaking to ComicBook.com, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed during a Spider-Man: Far From Home press junket that Marvel and Disney are planning on re-releasing Avengers: Endgame next weekend. This version will reportedly feature new scenes that weren’t featured in the initial theatrical release.

Feige stated on the re-release, “We are doing that. don’t know if it’s been announced. And I don’t know how much… Yeah, we’re doing it next weekend.” As Feige pointed out, Marvel and Disney have not yet officially announced the details for the re-release and this alternate cut.

It’s not yet clear how much additional footage will be restored in this cut or how different it will be. Last December, 20th Century Fox did re-release Deadpool 2 with an alternate PG-13 cut, titled Once Upon a Deadpool. The alternate version did feature new scenes specifically shot for the re-release, along with some alternate scenes from the Unrated cut that were actually restored into the film.

As of right now, Avengers: Endgame is nearing the worldwide box office No. 1 slot that’s currently held by Avatar at $2.788 billion. As of today, Endgame sits at $2.743 billion for its worldwide total. A theatrical re-release with new footage could enable Endgame to finally surpass Avatar at No. 1.
