Batista is a movie star now, but even he can’t get on The Walking Dead — in his case, because he’s just too big to play undead. The WWE star-turned-actor revealed in a recent interview with Empire promoting his role in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead that he offered to play a zombie for free on the show, but they turned him down because of his size.

“I’m a zombie fan,” he said. “I tried to get on Walking Dead for years. I said I would come and play a zombie for free, but they said, ‘You’re too big!'”

Batista noted that as much as he’s a fan of the genre, he wasn’t just going to sign on for any zombie flick. “For me, there had to be something special about a zombie film for me to sign up,” he said. “What sets us apart is the heist. But there’s a whole bunch of different layers to this film.”

The film is set to release through Netflix and already has a prequel film and anime series spin-off in the works. It’s set to debut on the service later this year and stars Batista, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro , Hiroyuki Sanada, Raul Castillo, Nora Arnezeder, Matthias Schweighöfer, Samantha Win, Rich Cetrone, and Garrett Dillahunt.
