The Batman Adds Peter Sarsgaard To Cast, Could Play Two-Face
Director Matt Reeves took to Twitter yesterday to confirm that Peter Sarsgaard (The Magnificent Seven) has joined the cast of The Batman. No word yet on what role he will play, though The Hollywood Reporter notes rumblings that he could play a corrupt cop named Wasserman or a district attorney — maybe even Harvey Dent who was a district attorney and became Two-Face.
Maggie Gyllenhaal, Sarsgaard’s wife, posted a tease on Instagram with a photo of her husband “half way through a shave…” which would lend credence to speculation that Sarsgaard will play Two-Face. Gyllenhaal, of course, played assistant district attorney Rachel Dawes, who had a romantic relationship with Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), in The Dark Knight.
The cast for the film already includes Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as playing Riddler, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, John Turturro as crime boss Carmine Falcone, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Andy Serkis as the butler, Alfred.
