Bill Skarsgard Cast as Pennywise in Stephen King’s IT

New Line has made progress on their two-part adaptation of Stephen King’s IT at last. THR reports that Bill Skarsgard (Hemlock Grove, The Divergent Series: Allegiant) has signed on to play Pennywise in the films, replacing Will Poulter who was set to play the evil entity when Cary Fukunaga was set to direct. Fukunaga left after creative differences with the studio and was replaced by Andy Muschietti (Mama); the delay meant that Poulter was no longer available.

In addition, the young protagonists of the first part have been cast with Jaeden Lieberher (Midnight Special), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Jack Dylan Grazer (Tales of Halloween), Wyatt Oleff (Guardians of the Galaxy), Chosen Jacobs (Hawaii Five-0) and Jeremy Ray Taylor (42). The plan is still for the first film to focus on the kids’ first encounter with Pennywise, while the second will focus on their adult reunion to face him.
