Hammerstone Studios and Orion Pictures released a new video announcing that the upcoming sequel, Bill & Ted Face the Music, is going into production this summer, along with its upcoming release date. You can check out that video with stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter below.

The film will feature Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter returning in their roles as the titular duo. The film will be released by Orion Pictures through United Artists Releasing in theaters on August 21, 2020. Bill & Ted Face the Music is being directed by Dean Parison from a script by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. The sequel is produced by Scott Kroopf alongside Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce on behalf of Hammerstone Studios. Steven Soderbergh will executive produce the project along with John Ryan Jr., Scott Fischer and John Santilli. Here’s an official synopsis:

Following 1989’s “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and 1991’s “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey,” the stakes are higher than ever for William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Reeves). Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.

The last movie, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, was released in 1991.
