Speaking to People.com, Bird Box director Susanne Bier revealed that there were moments where star Sandra Bullock did hit the camera during filming. In the hit Netflix feature, Bullock portrays a woman, who along with her two children, are forced to walk around outside blindfolded due to an evil entity that takes the form of people’s worst fears.

Due to Bullock being blindfolded while filming onset, there were some unintentional instances where she did run into the camera. Bier stated on Bullock hitting the camera: “We did have Sandy hitting the camera. The camera was sort of moving and she was moving, and we had such a great operator who most of the time had this weird dance with her where she was blindfolded and they were both moving around each other. And one time he just got too close.”

The film earned some controversy after fans started the Bird Box Challenge, where they would try to blindfold themselves and test their abilities similar to Bullock in the film.

Bier added on people not wanting to hurt themselves over such a thing, “I don’t want anyone to hurt themselves. On set, when the actors were blindfolded, there would be like an army of people keeping a watch on them ready to grab them.”

Bird Box is currently streaming on Netflix.
