In an interview with Bionic Buzz (via Comicbook.com), Mary Elizabeth Winstead confirmed that the upcoming DC Extended Universe movie Birds of Prey will begin filming in January.

She said: “It’s sort of a spinoff of Suicide Squad. It kind of follows Harley Quinn, which is Margot Robbie’s character from those films, and this sort of girl gang that she puts together. I play Huntress, and we’ve got Black Canary, played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell, and Rosie Perez and Ewan McGregor. It’s a really fun, fun cast. We haven’t started shooting yet, but we start shooting in January, and I can’t wait.

The film will be directed by Cathy Yan with a cast that includes Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain and Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya. Robbie will also produce with Sue Kroll and Bryan Unkeless. The film features Quinn, Huntress and Canary teaming up to protect Cain when she finds a diamond belonging to Black Mask. It arrives in theaters on February 7, 2020.
