Warning: This article contains spoiler for the Game Of Thrones finale episode.

In a last season filled with unexpected and controversial twists, the final episode of Game Of Thrones sees Bran Stark take the Iron Throne. Seemingly, few were more surprised by this then the actor behind the character himself, Isaac Hempstead-Wright.

He spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his huge role in the series finale and revealed that he believed he was being pranked when he first heard of the idea.

“When I got to the [Dragonpit scene] in the last episode and they’re like, ‘What about Bran?’ I had to get up and pace around the room,” he claimed. “I genuinely thought it was a joke script and that [showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] sent to everyone a script with their own character ends up on the Iron Throne. ‘Yeah, good one guys. Oh s—, it’s actually real?’”

Unsurprisingly, he’s pleased that such an end would occur for his character, though he did express some disappointment in not getting to have a death scene. Still, he believes Bran Stark would make a fine king.

“I’m happy,” he adds. “Though I kind of did want to die and get in one good death scene with an exploding head or something.”

“I think he’ll be a really good king actually,” he went on to say. “Perhaps there will be something missing in having real emotive leader, which is a useful quality in a king or queen as well. At the same time, you can’t really argue with Bran. He’s like, ‘No, I know everything.’”
