Deadline reports that Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek) has joined the cast of Doctor Sleep, reuniting with director Mike Flanagan after their previous Stephen King adaptation Gerald’s Game. Greenwood will place Dr. John, but the description of his character is being kept secret.

Flanagan rewrote a previous draft from Akiva Goldsman. The film stars Ewan McGregor, Carl Lumbly, Alex Essoe, Zahn McClarnon, Rebeca Ferguson and Kyliegh Curran. Trevor Macy and Jon Berg will produce. The film follows a grown up Danny Torrance from The Shining, who is now in his 40s and dealing with the same anger and alcoholism that ruined his father. Ferguson plays Rose the Hat, the leader of a cult that feeds on the “steam” produced by young people with the gift of the shining, while Curran plays Abra Stone, a girl who has it and meets Danny.
