Move over Kid Rock, because a new celebrity is considering a run for US Senate. Caitlyn Jenner told AM 970 in New York that she is considering running for the US Senate in California. Jenner would likely run as a Republican, given her political history.

She said: “I have considered it, I like the political side of it. The political side of it has always been very intriguing to me. Over the next six months or so, I [have to] find out where I can do a better job. Can I do a better job from the outside, kind of working the perimeter of the political scene, being open to talk to anybody? Or are you better off from the inside. And we are in the process of determining that.

Jenner said she would try to push for a more progressive stance on LGBT issues along with the general Republican platform.

She added: “The perception of the Republican party is that they’re all about rich white guys trying to make money. I would hope in the next generation that we can change the perception of the Republican party, and make it the party of equality.

Jenner would have a tough road converting any LGBT voters, as only 21 percent of polled LGBT Americans have Republican leanings or identify with the party. Her LGBT critics have called her politics “breathtakingly clueless.” She supported Ted Cruz in the past, who has been criticized for his “regressive” LGBT policy and belief.
