Avengers: Endgame

Warning: Spoilers follow for Avengers: Endgame.

Chris Evans’ final scene in Avengers: Endgame as Captain America sees the hero getting a happy ending, and the star posted to Twitter to share a behind-the-scenes pic from the filming. You can see the picture below of Evans in age makeup to play Cap, having stopped off in time to get his life with Peggy Carter before returning to the present, below.

As you can see below, the old age makeup was done almost entirely with practical makeup work, with a minimal amount of CGI. Joe and Anthony Russo noted in an interview with EW that they did as much as they could with the physical work, though Anthony noted, that it was “then augmented with CG, because there’s certain things that you can’t do with makeup in order to make Cap credibly that age … You can’t shrink Chris Evans’ neck on set, you know what I mean? He’s still got that yoke neck.”

Joe Russo noted that one thing which wasn’t digitally altered was his voice, noting, “We didn’t alter his voice at all … Everything you’re seeing is exactly his performance, just with his face aged. That’s it. We didn’t change anything about it.”
