Chris Hemsworth has revealed that he isn’t sure about his status for Star Trek 4 now that Quentin Tarantino is on board. Hemsworth was announced to be returning to the franchise as James Kirk’s father back in July of 2016 following the release of Star Trek Beyond based on a pitch by J.J. Abrams. However, with Tarantino now developing the next film alongsider Abrams, the Thor actor told IGN that he isn’t sure if that storyline will be included in the new film.

“I don’t know,” Hemsworth said about his status for the film. “It’s a reminder to call J.J. and ask the same question because I haven’t heard any updates on it either.”

When asked about the original pitch by Abrams, Hemsworth said he was excited by “…the fact that he had a way of reinserting the character into the world. I can’t say too much — there’s not even a script — but I always thought, maybe, there was a possibility of him coming back in some way. I didn’t know how or what, but he was pretty enthusiastic about what they had planned.”

Mark L. Smith, who wrote The Revenant, is writing the script for the new film, which will target an R rating.
