Christina Applegate To Retire From On-Screen Acting, Still Voicing Kelly In Married with Children Animated Series
Christina Applegate says that she is retiring from on-screen acting due to her multiple sclerosis diagnosis, but will voice her iconic role of Kelly in the Married…with Children animated series. The Dead To Me star told Vanity Fair in a new interview that she is “probably not going to work on-camera again” because of her diagnosis, adding that her work opposite Linda Cardellini in the Netflix series is something she’s proud of.
“I’m so glad that I went out with someone who is by far the greatest actress I’ve ever worked with in my entire life, if not the greatest human I’ve ever known,” Applegate said. She also added that she will continue to do voice acting, noting that “I can’t even imagine going to set right now. This is a progressive disease. I don’t know if I’m going to get worse. I can do voiceover stuff because I have to support my family and keep my brain working.”
Applegate confirmed that she would be performing as Kelly in the animated series that is in the works, saying, “I can’t really say much, but all I know is that all four of us are attached to it. It’s not in our hands now, so we’re just kind of waiting.”
Applegate announced in 2021 that she had been diagnoses with multiple sclerosis.
