Dakota Johnson Protects a Trio of Spider-Women In Madame Web Trailer

Sony is set to bring Madame Web and three Spider-Women to the big screen next year, and the first trailer for the film is online. Sony Pictures revealed the first trailer for the Sony Spider-Man Universe film on Wednesday, and you can check it out below.
The trailer sets up Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in New York City who gains the ability to see the future. In her visions she sees a man, revealed to be Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim), trying to track down and murder her and three women — Julia Carpenter (Sydney Sweeney), Mattie Franklin (Celeste O’Connor), and Anya Corazon (Isabela Merced) — who all have futures as Spider-related superheroes. Comics fans will know Julia and Mattie as as two of the women who have taken on the Spider-Woman mantle, while Anya is known as Araña and Spider-Girl.
Ezekiel Sims has his own history in the comics as a character closely connected to the Spider-Verse storyline. He is also a major part of the history of another Spider-Man character, Silk.
The film is directed by SJ Clarkson from a script she co-wrote with Claire Parker. It stars Johnson, Sweeney, O’Connor, Merced, Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott and is described as follows:
“Meanwhile, in another universe…” In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.
