Dark Phoenix Was Constantly Rewritten During Filming

This probably won’t surprise many people, but according to Dark Phoenix’s stars, the film was bring constantly re-written on the set during filming. Sophie Turner told Screen Rant that the film, which opened today, was being re-worked on a regular basis during production.

“Simon [Kinberg] and I would sit down for two hours every day and just comb through each page of the script,” Turner told the site. “There was rewriting being done all the time.”

Jessica Chastain also shared her thoughts on the constant rewrites, saying that Kinberg, who directed the film, would change things up over the course of a night. She said, “You could have a conversation and something comes from that and then the next morning, Simon would show up to work and say, ‘Jey, I wrote some pages that I think could be interesting for this direction we’re going.'”

The film had a rocky production process, with the entire ending needing to be reshot due to similarities to another superhero film that came out. The film is not scoring well with critics, sitting at a current 23% on Rotten Tomatoes. Our own Jeffrey Harris gave the film a dismal one out of 10.
