You may remember Stephanie Grisham, former press secretary for the Trump Administration, making a claim in 2019 that when the Trump Administration moved into the White House in 2017, they found various notes that said things like “You will fail” and “You aren’t going to make it.”

“When we came into the White House, I’ll tell you something, every office was filled with Obama books, and we had notes left behind that said ‘You will fail’, ‘You aren’t going to make it’,” she told The John Fredricks Show. “In the press office, there was a big note taped to a door that said that ‘You will fail’.”

Grisham later retracted her claim after various Obama Administration officials called her claim a lie and posted photos of the notes they left behind which were all positive and encouraging.

However, Dave Chappelle revealed on Naomi Campbell’s No Filter YouTube show that negative notes were actually left around the White House, but not by the Obama Administration. Chappelle claims that celebrities left the mocking notes around the White House during one of the final parties the Obamas threw.

“Remember when the Trump administration moved in, they said the Obama staff left dirty notes for us in all the drawers and all the cabinets?” Chappelle said. “I saw this happening. I’m not going to say who did it. But it was celebrities, writing all this crazy shit and putting them all over there. I saw them doing it, so when I saw it on the news I laughed real hard.”

Chappelle discusses the incident around the 14 minute mark in the video below.
