David Dastmalchian Reportedly Joins The Suicide Squad As Polka-Dot Man

Ant-Man cast member David Dastmalchian is jumping to DC, where he’ll play Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad. THR reports that Dastmalchian has closed a deal to play the obscure DC villain in James Gunn’s pseudo-sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad, which will mix new and old characters.

Dastmalchian joins returning players Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) along with new co-star Idris Elba. Elba was originally going to play Deadshot, but instead will play a new, undisclosed role. John Cena is also reportedly in talks to co-star in the fulm.

Polka-Dot Man is a Batman villain, first appearing in 1962’s Detective Comics #300. The character’s real name is Abner Krill and was crook who tried to take on a “theme” for his crimes, using spots in an attempt to gain noteriety by fighting Batman.

The Suicide Squad opens on August 5th, 2021.
