Deadpool Writers Developing Twisted Metal TV Series

Twisted Metal is set to wreak havoc on the small screen, with Deadpool’s co-writers developing a series based on the video game franchise. Variety reports that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are developing a series through Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions based on the vehicular combat game.

The series is described as an an action comedy and will focus on a motor-mouthed outsider who gets a chance for a better life if he can successfully delivers a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. He partners with a trigger-happy car thief and sets off, battling savage bandits driving deadly vehicles of destruction and other dangers on the road. That will reportedly include Sweet Tooth, the fan-favorite character from the game.

“Twisted Metal is one of the most beloved franchises from PlayStation,” Asad Qizilbashm, head of PlayStation Productions, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to have such a great team working on bringing this iconic game to life for the fans.”

“We love Twisted Metal in all its twisted insanity,” Glenn Adilman, executive vice president of comedy development for Sony Pictures Television, added. “Michael Jonathan Smith hit it out of the park with an action-packed, brilliantly funny adaptation and we are grateful for the support of Rhett, Paul, Will and our friends at PlayStation.”
