Demian Bichir to Co-Star in Sony’s The Grudge Reboot

Demian Bichir is set to co-star with Andrea Riseborough in Sony’s reboot of The Grudge. Variety reports that Bichir (The Nun, The Grand Hotel) has signed onto the reimagining, which will begin shooting in May.

Nicolas Pesce (The Eyes of My Mother) wrote and will direct the film, which is produced by Sam Raimi. Raimi has said of the film, “We are so excited about this new adaptation. We went back to the original source material to deliver a relentless supernatural thrill ride that explores the horrors of American suburbia.”

The first American take on the Japanese franchise Ju-On starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as an exchange student who moves to Tokyo and finds herself tormented by spirits of the dead.
