Detective Pikachu Director To Adapt Video Game Beyond Good and Evil For Netflix

Netflix is set to get another video game adaptation to join The Witcher and Castlevania. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the streaming giant is working on an animated/live-action film based on the popular 2003 video game. Rob Letterman (Detective Pikachu, Goosebumps) will direct while Jason Altman and Margaret Boykin will produce for Ubisoft Film & Television. Netflix has yet to hire any writers.

The game takes place in the 25th century on a mining planet that is being attacked by aliens, and the military leaders may be working with them. A young photojournalist named Jade joins the underground resistance movement. The game was popular enough that Ubisoft is working on a prequel.
