Dexter: Original Sin Adds Sarah Michelle Gellar To Cast

The cast of Dexter: Original Sin has added a genre favorite in Sarah Michelle Gellar. The official Dexter Twitter account announced on Thursday that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star has joined the cast of the upcoming prequel series.

The announcement notes that Gellar will play CSI Chief Tanya Martin in the series. She joins a cast that includes Christian Slater as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan, Patrick Gibson and Molly Brown as young Dexter and Debra, James Martinez (Angel Batista), Christina Milian (Maria LaGuerta), Alex Shimizu (Vince Masuka), Reno Wilson (Bobby Watt), and Patrick Dempsey as Miami Metro Homicide Captair Aaron Spencer.

The new series will be showrun by Clyde Phillips, who served as showrunner for the original show’s second to fourth seasons. It is described as follows:

Dexter: Original Sin is set in 1991 Miami and revolves around Dexter (Gibson) as he goes from student to avenging serial killer. With guidance from his father, Harry (Slater), Dexter adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people without being discovered by law enforcement at the same time as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
