Variety reports that Disney has paused production and pre-production on multiple films ‘for a short time’ due to the Coronavirus pandemic. These include Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel, Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (as we previously reported), The Little Mermaid, Home Alone, Nightmare Alley, Peter Pan & Wendy and Shrunk.

Disney said in a statement: “While there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on our productions, after considering the current environment and the best interests of our cast and crew, we have made the decision to pause production on some of our live-action films for a short time. We will continue to assess the situation and restart as soon as feasible.

The Little Mermaid was set to begin production in London next week. The Last Duel, meanwhile, had been filming in Ireland since last month. COVID-19, in addition to travel restrictions in Europe, made executives decided to delay filming indefinitely. It’s unknown when shooting was set to end or if the hiatus will hurt the December 25 release date. It was written by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, who star Adam Driver and Jodie Comer. Nicole Holofcener also wrote the script.

Nightmare Alley, the next film from Guillermo del Toro, stars Bradley Cooper. It’s unknown how long the production had been going on for, but it currently doesn’t have a release date. Peter Pan and Shrunk were both in pre-production and in the casting stage.
