Disney’s Toy Story Land Opening In June

ABC News reports that Toy Story Land will open at Disney World on June 30 of this year. The announcement was made on Good Morning America this morning. Disney brought some of the attractions to Times Square in New York City.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Bob Chapek said: “With set pieces, staging, attractions and experiences Toy Story Land represents the best of Walt Disney Imagineering’s collaboration with our storytelling partners at Pixar Animation Studios. This new land will place guests inside the wondrous world of Woody, Buzz and their pals – and invite everyone to experience the joy of being a toy.”

The park is 11 acres and features giant version of childhood toys, including characters from Toy Story. It is set in Andy’s backyard. Rides include Slinky Dog Dash (with Slinky himself moving around curves, hills and drops) and Alien Swirling Saucers (riding a “toy” rocket “through space”). There’s also Woody’s Lunch Box, a walk-up window with old fashioned soda floats and more.

This isn’t the first time a theme park attraction has opened for Toy Story. Toy Story Midway Mania opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and California Adventure in 2008.
