Donald Trump Mocked on Twitter For Serving Fast Food “Spread” to NCAA Champions Clemson Tigers
News Flash, folks: Donald Trump did something that Twitter took exception to. I know, not a surprise. Anyway, in this case it is Trump bringing in a “spread” of fast food as dinner for the NCAA Football Champion Clemson Tigers during their visit to the White House on Monday evening.
Trump said that because of the government shutdown, the chefs are among those on the White House staff who have been furloughed. As such, he had Wendy’s, McDonald’s and Burger King brought in, as well as pizza. “I think that would be their favorite food, so we’ll see what happens,” he added. Trump’s deputy press secretary said that the President personally paid for the fast food.
To be fair, it isn’t the fast food that is necessarily being mocked. Most of us enjoy a little fast food every now and then. It’s the fact that the White House staffers were made to present it as if it was a five-star meal, lighting candelabras and placing sauce cups in gravy bowls.
