Amazon is dipping deeper into high-profile genre television, as it’s reportedly close to a deal with EA for a Mass Effect TV series. Deadline reports that the streamer is closing a deal with the video game publisher to develop a series based on the hit sci-fi game franchise.

The news comes just as Amazon’s Wheel of Time series, based on the Robert Jordan novels, has made its debut and was, in the words of Amazon Studios’ Jennifer Salke, “the most watched series premiere of the year and one of the Top 5 series launches of all time for Prime Video.” Though no data was revealed for the premiere, Salke said there were “tens and tens of millions of streams” in the first three days of release and the three episodes logged among their highest completion rates ever. The series was also the #1 series on social media across all releases last weekend.

Regarding Mass Effect, Salke said, “You will see us continuing to invest in fantasy genre of all kinds, we have a genre-focused team on the ground in Studios who work tirelessly with our creative partners on those slates, and you can look forward to more.”
