The Avengers: Endgame Super Bowl spot had a lot of people talking, but some were more interested in what the ad didn’t have than in what it had. The thirty-second spot contained a ton of new footage, but a couple of scenes in particular have the fan community on Reddit questioning whether a character or two were edited out.

As you can see from the below image, there are some open spaces in the two main group shots of the episode which seem innocuous, but are conspicuous when pointed out. The first is in the shot of Black Widow, Captain America, Bruce Banner and James Rhodes staring up at the sky; the second is in the long walking shot at the end.

Now, lest this seem too much like fans making something out of nothing, we can at least thank Marvel for this kind of scrutiny. The studio has set a precedent of making digital edits to their trailers before to protect secrets. Most notably, the Thor: Ragnarok trailer showed Thor with two functioning eyes during that fight’s climactic sequence, as opposed to the one that they had in the film.

There are a host of possibilities for who could be missing in those shots: Shuri, Okoye, Pepper Potts, and Captain Marvel are just a few possibilities. Or, of course, fans could be doing what fans do and seeing something where there is (literally) nothing.

We’ll know for sure when Avengers: Endgame releases on April 26th.
