Marvel has kicked off production on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in Atlanta. Kevin Feige told Variety that principal production began Tuesday on the MCU sequel at Pinewood STudios in Atlanta.

Feige acknowledged the shadow that the late Chadwick Boseman cast upon the production by his absence, noting, “It’s clearly very emotional without Chad. But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans. We’re going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud.”

The film is directed by Ryan Coogler from his own screenplay, with Feige revealing that everyone from the original cast (instead Boseman of course) is returning. That assumedly includes Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett.

Plot details on the film remain under wraps. The movie is currently set to release on July 8, 2022.
