Netflix dropped the first images, poster, and motion poster today for the upcoming TV series adaptation of The Witcher. You can check out those images below.

Based on the best-selling fantasy book series Andrzej Sapkowski, the upcoming show will center around a famed monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill). The show is set in the world of The Continent, which is a place where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.

Additionally, Netflix has also confirmed that the show will have its own Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 this month. The panel is set for Friday, July 19 at 2:15 pm.

Among the new images are closer looks at star Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in full costume, sword in hand, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Freya Allan as Ciri. There’s also a closer look at what appear to be sigils representing Geralt (His sigil representing the Witcher School of the Wolf; along with his nickname, The White Wolf), Yennefer (an obsidian star), and Ciri (a swallow). The series logo appears to merge all three sigils, as these three characters are essentially the main trio of the story.

Another thing to keep in mind is that this TV series is based on the original books and not the popular CD Projekt RED game series. The CDPR games are all set after the events of the books, and author Sapkowski did not have creative involvement in them after he sold off the game rights.

Netflix’s The Witcher TV series does not yet have a release date, but it’s expected to debut before the end of the year. We can probably expect an announcement on the launch date later this month at Comic-Con.
