The first images and plot details are online for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, with the trailer’s premiere date confirmed. Vanity Fair posted the images on Friday courtesy of Sony Pictures, which you can check out the gallery below. The report notes that the first trailer for the film will release on Monday.

The film stars Carrie Coon as Callie, the mother of science-obsessed Phoebe (McKenna Grace) and gearhead Trevor (Finn Wolfhard). According to the site, the family has “left everything they know and moved to a small town in Oklahoma after inheriting property from the father she didn’t know.”

Writer-director Jason Reitman told the outlet, “As the family arrives at an old farm, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters. Trevor and Phoebe are about to find out who their grandfather was and whether they’re ready to pick up the proton pack themselves.” He also noted that this film is connected back to the “Manhattan Crossrip,” namely the supernatural events that invaded New York in the first film.

The film also stars Paul Rudd as Mr. Grooberson, the kids’ summer school teacher who was a kid himself when the Manhattan Crossrip happened. The report notes that most people today within the film think of it as a myth or don’t remember it, but Mr. Grooberson is obsessed with it.

The film will open on July 10th, 2020 and will feature Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts all reprising their roles from the original.
