Coming Soon reports that production has started on Amazon Prime’s six-part series Good Omens. Showrunner Neil Gaiman posted a photo on Twitter of stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant as Aziraphale and Crowley.

The six-part series is based on the novel by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It will shoot over six months in London, Oxfordshire and locations in South Africa. Gaiman will write the series. It debuts in the UK in 2019 on Prime Video before airing on BBC Two later on. The series also stars Adria Arjona, Nina Sosanya, Jack Whitehall, Michael McKean, Miranda Richardson, Ned Dennehy and Ariyon Bakare. It was commissioned by Amazon Studios and BBC Two by BBC Controller Patrick Holland, BBC Comedy Commissioning Controller Shane Allen and BBC Commissioning Editor Gregor Sharp. Narrativia, BBC Studios and The Blank Corporation will produce with BBC Worldwide. It will be directed/executive produced by Douglas Mackinnon.

Gaiman said: “People have fallen in love with an angel and a demon in a book by Terry Pratchett and me, and they have been excited and nervous to see how they would appear on screen – and I was probably the most nervous and excited of all. This is a first look. Michael Sheen is the best and finest of bookseller angels, David Tennant the coolest and most delightful of demons. Together they are one hell of a double act (or do I mean one made in Heaven?)
