Frank Grillo discussed the future of the MCU on Larry King Now, alluding to rumors that the next Captain America could be black. Grillo, who played Crossbones in Captain America: Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age of Ultron, was asked about the future of the character in the wake of reports that Chris Evans is done playing Steve Rogers with Avengers 4.

After acknowledging that he doesn’t know who the next Captain America will be, he noted, “there have been rumors that Captain America could be African American.” He continued, teasing, “It could be a woman. You know? So they’re looking.”

It’s important to note here that there are no reports of who will actually take on the role — or if anyone will. There have been no reliable rumors suggesting that Marvel is seeking any particular actor or character type for the role, though common speculation is that either Sebastian Stan or Anthony Mackie might take on the role, as both Bucky and Falcon have suited up as Cap in the comics.

Avengers 4 opens on May 3rd, 2019.
