Frank Grillo To Play Rick Flag Sr. In Peacemaker Season Two

Frank Grillo is set to join the cast of Peacemaker season two. Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Purge: Anarchy) has signed on to join James Gunn’s DC action comedy series for the show’s second run, as Gunn announced on Instagram. Grillo will play Rick Flag Sr., the leader of the original Task Force X (aka the Suicide Squad).
Rick Flag Jr. was portrayed by Joel Kinnaman in the Gunn’s Suicide Squad films and was killed by Peacemaker (John Cena) in the second film. Gunn wrote in the post:
“Pleased to announce the great @frankgrillo1 will be reprising the role of Rick Flag, Sr – the role he’ll first play in animated form in Creature Commandos – throughout Season 2 of #Peacemaker. Christopher Smith and Rick Sr have a little unfinished business to take care of…”
Gunn will again write and direct the second season of the show, with Cena back to reprise his role as the titular character. Plot details have yet to be revealed for the show, which will follow up on the events of season one.
