The series finale of Game of Thrones was an event to behold, and a record number of people beheld it. HBO has announced that the show was viewed by 19.3 million viewers across HBO’s platforms to make it the highest-watched show in HBO history. The previous record was held by last week’s penultimate episode, which scored 18.4 million viewers.

In addition, the episode became the most-watched single telecast in HBO history with the 9 PM airing drawing 13.6 million on HBO proper. That beat the previous record of 13.4 million set by the season four premiere of The Sopranos in September of 2002.

Finally, HBO announced that the eighth season as a whole averaged 44.2 million per episode in gross audience across platforms and irregardless of when they were watched. That’s over 10 million above the season seven average.
