Variety reports that HBO is set to turn filming locations for Game of Thrones into tourist attractions in Northern Ireland. The standing sets that would be used include Winterfell, Castle Black and Kings Landing, along with a studio tour of Linen Mill Studios, which will include all seasons and settings of the show. It’s believed the attractions could open to the public as soon as 2019, after an exploratory process. They previously launched attractions for the show like the Touring Exhibition and the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience.

The tourist spots will be “on a scale and scope bigger than anything the public has ever seen.” Each locations will include costumes, sets, props, weapons, set decorations, art files, models and other production materials. HBO also plans to set up digital content and interactive materials to show off visual effects. They are working with Tourism NI.

HBO VP of licensing and retail Jeff Peters said: “HBO is thrilled to celebrate the work of the ‘Game of Thrones’ creative team and crew by preserving these locations and inviting fans to visit Northern Ireland and explore Westeros in person. The opportunity to celebrate Northern Ireland’s pivotal role in the life and legacy of the show and share its culture, beauty and warmth is also a huge inspiration behind these Legacy projects.

John McGrillen, CEO of Tourism NI, said the project is a “game-changer for Northern Ireland on the global tourism level.” He added: “While [‘Game of Thrones’] fans have seen the stunning landscapes, coastlines and mountains in the series, we are thrilled they will now have the opportunity to fully experience the charm of Northern Ireland and immerse themselves in to the world of Westeros.
