Glee star Naya Rivera is missing and presumed dead after going missing in a Southern California lake where she was with her young son. TMZ reports that Rivera, who played Santana Lopez on Glee, went missing last night and that her four year-old son Josey Hollis Dorsey was found alone on a boat on Lake Piru when Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies located him.

According to authorities, Josey was found asleep on the boat. He told officers that his mother jumped into the water. Rivera’s life jacket was found in the boat. A search for Rivera began, but the search was suspended overnight. Authorities made it clear on Thursday morning that Rivera is now presumed dead and the search has moved from a rescue to a recovery mission.

Josey is reportedly fine and with his family. Rivera and Ryan Dorsey, Josey’s father, divorced in 2018 and the two share custody of the boy.

According to the site, the water has only five to nine inches of visibility with trees and other debris on the bottom. Law enforcement says that it typically takes seven to 10 days for a body to rise to the surface. Over 80 people are currently part of the search, which is using helicopters, boats, ATV vehicles and ground personnel.

In addition to her breakthrough role in Glee, Rivera has had a recurring in the YouTube Red series Step Up as well as a host of other TV and smaller film appearances.
