Groot Reportedly Set to Appear in Thor: Love and Thunder

Another Guardian of the Galaxy is reportedly set for Thor: Love and Thunder in Groot. Australian paparazzo Kobie Thatcher posted a video of Vin Diesel arriving in Sydney, Australia where the film is set to film, noting that he is set to appear in the franchise as the plant-based MCU hero. While Groot is CGI of course, Diesel has provided both the voice and the performance capture for the character in past films.

Diesel’s reported appearance comes after it was reported that Chris Pratt is reprising his role as Star-Lord in the fourth Thor film. The two will join Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tessa Thompson — all reprising their roles as Thor, Jane Foster, and Valkyrie — and Christian Bale in a mystery role. Taika Waititi, who is back to write and direct, will also voice Korg.

The film will be loosely based on the portion of Jason Aaron’s Thor run which saw Jane Foster, while fighting cancer, taking on the mantle and powers of Thor. The film is set to begin production in Australia soon and is set for release on March 25, 2022.
