Harvey Weinstein Files Motion to Dismiss Ashley Judd’s Lawsuit

Harvey Weinstein’s lawyer has filed a motion to dismiss Ashley Judd’s lawsuit claiming he blackballed her career. TMZ reports that the motion that was filed argues that Judd cannot prove that he cost her a role in Lord of the Rings.

Judd has argued in the lawsuit that Weinstein lied to Peter Jackson, saying that she was a nightmare to work with and should be avoided at all costs in retaliation for her turning down his sexual advances. Weinstein’s lawyer argues that the case is based on speculation, and there is no proof he cost her the role. Jackson has confirmed that Weinstein talked to him and told him not to cast her, as well as Mira Sorvino who had also rejected Weinstein’s overtures.

Weinstein says Judd made no effort at the time she was passed over to find out why she did not get the role. He also claims the alleged incident where he came onto Judd was “neither severe nor pervasive.”
