Harvey Weinstein Pleads Not Guilty To Rape

As we previously reported, Harvey Weinstein was indicted on multiple charges of rape and criminal sex acts. He showed up in court today, with his legal team, to enter a plea in a New York City court. He’s currently free on $1 million bail.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. said that the grand jury presented charges of rape in the first and third degrees, along with a criminal sexual act in the first degree. The indictment brings Weinstein “another step closer to accountability for the crimes of violence with which he is now charged,” according to Vance. Weinstein’s lawyer Ben Brafman said that he thinks prosecutors have “unfairly denied access to critical information about this case.”

Weinstein claims that his ten-year relationship with the woman accusing him was consensual before and after the alleged incident.
