Harvey Weinstein Wants Rape Indictment Dismissed Based On Emails From Victim

August 2, 2018 | Posted by Joseph Lee

TMZ reports that Harvey Weinstein claims he has forty emails that show he did not rape one of the women who is accusing him and that she actually consented to sex. The emails were reportedly sent after the rape allegedly happened and show a woman who was treating him affectionately. Weinstein did not use a personal email, but one from The Wienstein Company. When he was fired, the company wouldn’t let him access the account. Eventually his lawyers obtained them but the bankruptcy judge gave a protective order prohibiting them from disseminating the emails.

His legal team wants permission to use the emails as evidence to get the indictment dismissed, claiming the Manhattan DA knew about the emails but never gave them to the grand jury. They claim that’s misconduct and failure to present crucial evidence. It’s only related to one woman, and not the others who are part of the two more indictments.
