Harvey Wippleman Says Young Rock Will Be Back Once SAG-AFTRA Strike Resolves
Young Rock has finished its run on NBC, but Harvey Wippleman says the show isn’t over yet. The series, which charted the life of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, was cancelled in June of this year after three seasons. Wippleman, who is an executive consultant on the series, spoke with Developmentally Speaking for a new interview and talked about his work on the show and said that the show will be back on another platform. You can see some highlights below, per Fightful:
On working on the show: “To me, the biggest highlight of the last whatever amount of years was being a main part of the Young Rock show on NBC. I was one of the two executive consultants for the wrestling aspect of the show. I was part of the Memphis Wrestling consultant team, and also part of the Zoom meetings teaching Ryan Pinkston, who plays me on ‘Young Rock’, my accent and just showing him how I talk and behave and whatnot. Of course, a great friend of mine, Chavo Guerrero, was the casting director for the wrestlers in the show and also the physical consultant, shaking the actors how to take a bump or whatever. The young wrestlers that were portraying other people, he would explain to them what to do. So me and Chavo were two the two wrestling people on that particular show.”
On the show’s future: “It was a great experience, and it’s not over yet. It’s not on NBC anymore, but once the actors’ strike resolves, stay tuned. Young Rock will be back. The story ain’t over yet.”
