Hot off the heels of the TransformersBack to the Future collaboration earlier this month, featuring the Gigawatt figure, Hasbro has announced the latest movie and Transformers character mashup, this time from Paramount Pictures’ Top Gun franchise with a new robot character named Maverick. The new figure is available to pre-order now at Hasbro Pulse

Not to be confused with the film series’ Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, the Maverick figure takes the form of an iconic Northrop Grumman F-14 Tomcat jet from the original 1986 film. The new figure celebrates the original movie ahead of the upcoming sequel, Top Gun: Maverick, which is due out on December 23, 2020. Here’s an official synopsis:

After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.” Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

The new figure is a seven-inch Voyager Class figure in Robot Mode. It can convert into the F-14 Tomcat in 25 steps. The Maverick figure includes a movie-inspired miniature motorcycle accessory and two alternate hands, so the figure can hold an included volleyball accessory. The figure also features folding jet wings, movie-inspired details, and a helmet design based on the upcoming 2020 Top Gun: Maverick movie. There are also 4 missile accessories that can be mounted on the arms in robot mode or under the wings in jet mode. Also, the packaging is inspired by an aircraft carrier.

The figure is available to pre-order for $49.99 at the above Hasbro Pulse link. It’s expected to ship on October 7. You can check out some additional images below.
