The upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series is filling out its cast, adding Black Widow’s Florence Pugh, the character of Echo and more. Variety reports that Pugh will reprise her role as Yelena Belova from the upcoming Black Widow film, while Vera Farmiga has joined the cast as Kate Bishop’s mother Eleanor.

In addition, Alaqua Cox will play Echo, aka Maya Lopez. Created by David Mack and Joe Quesada, Echo is a Native American superhero who first appeared in 1999’s Daredevil #9. Echo is deaf and has photographic reflexes, allowing her to perfectly copy people’s movements similar to the Taskmaster (who, interestingly, will appear on-screen with Yelena in Black Widow). Though initially associated primarily with Daredevil, Echo has worked with the New Avengers and took on the name of Ronin, a persona which Clint Barton later took on in the comics. Clint has already taken on the Ronin persona in Avengers: Endgame in the MCU, though he was never referred to textually as such.

In two more castings, Tony Dalton will play Jack Duquesne, who may be a take on Hawkeye’s longtime mentor/enemy The Swordsman (real name Jacques Duquesne in the comics), and Fra Fee has been cast as a character named Kazi.

The new cast members join Jeremy Renner as Clint and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate in the series, which is filming in Brooklyn right now for a late 2021 bow on Disney+.
