HBO is targeting a July production start for their The Last Of Us series. CBC reports that the network is looking to start filming in Calgary starting on July 5th, with production expected to wrap in June of next year.

The series will star Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the lead roles of Joel and Ellie. The series is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) along with Neil Druckmann, who is the creative director for the Naughty Dog game, and is described as follows:

The Last of Us is set twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
