HBO Max Removed From Amazon Prime Channels, Half-Price Deal Offered To Lost Customers
HBO Max is no longer available as an Amazon Prime Channel, and WarnerMedia is offering those customers who lost access a half-off deal as a result. Deadline reports that WarnerMedia is offering the deal after the service was removed from Amazon Prime Video’s Channels lineup.
WarnerMedia made the decision two years ago to split from Amazon Channels, a decision which has now come to fruition. HBO Max will be available for $7.49 for for up to six months for anyone who had accessed HBO via the Channels platform, and is available to both new and returning subscribers.
HBO Max will still be distributed on Amazon Fire TV; the decision to remove the service from Channels was due to the fact that Amazon was able to control streaming data regarding the service. About five million subscriptions to HBO Max were through Amazon Channels out of 47 million in the U.S. and 67.5 million globally.
