Homeland Season 8 Will Be The Final Season

TVLine reports that the eighth season of Homeland will be the last, as the final twelve episodes were confirmed yesterday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

Showtime president David Nevins said: “[Exec producer] Alex Gansa will be bringing this show, which has won eight Emmys and five Golden Globes, to its proper conclusion. I cannot say enough about how much Homeland has meant for the acceleration of our brand, not to mention to me personally. It was, in fact, the first show that I greenlit when I came to Showtime. Alex and Claire both started talking about it towards the end of last season. I asked, ‘Are you sure? Let’s think about it.’ But when they were resolved, it seemed like it was the right time. The two of them finally made the decision.

Gansa added: “I am sad to see the journey coming to an end, but it is time.

Star Claire Danes started the rumors this year when she told Howard Stern that season eight was “it” for the show. A rep for Showtime denied it, and Danes eventually took back what she said. The final season will be shot in an unknown location, possibly Israel, and will debut in June 2019.
