Idris Elba Puts a Damper on Rumors He’s Playing James Bond

Not that it’s too much of a surprise, but Idris Elba is shooting down reports that he’s being considered to play James Bond. Rumors began flying last week that Elba was a frontrunner to replace Daniel Craig after he retires from the role, boosted by a report that Antoine Fuqua had discussed the possibility with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli. Fuqua has since denied that such a conversation took place.

While Elba had some fun with the news on Twitter, he has since posted the following post. It is considered to be directly related to the rumors.

Craig is reprising his role as the superspy in the next Bond film, with Danny Boyle directing. That film releases in November of 2019.
