Avenges: Endgame has been raking it in at the box office, and the film has passed over $2.3 billion at the worldwide box office, making it the second biggest movie ever of all time, passing up James Cameron’s Titanic, which made $2.18 billion worldwide. However, James Cameron appears to be a good sport on the news, posting a message congratulating Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios on the milestone, which you can see below.

Cameron wrote, “To Kevin and everybody at Marvel. An iceberg sank the real Titanic. It took the Avengers to sink my Titanic. Everyone were at Lightstorm Entertainment salutes your amazing achievement. You’ve shown that the movie industry is not only alive and well, it’s bigger than ever!”

Interestingly enough, Cameron at one point was attached to direct a live-action film adaptation of Marvel’s Spider-Man that never materialized. Also, Disney as the new owner of 20th Century Fox, technically now owns Cameron’s Avatar series and recently announced some altered release dates for the upcoming sequels. Avatar 2 is currently slated for a December 18, 2020 release.

Endgame currently only sits behind another James Cameron film, Avatar, which sits at $2.7 billion worldwide. It should also eventually surpass the domestic take for the film at $760 million. Star Wars: the Force Awakens currently holds the domestic crown at $936 million.
